Among several other projects
in Krüger, there was another one organized by teachers before Christmas, which
I would like to introduce now.
The teachers participated in
this project collected donations from students, but before that, they had
proposed some projects/charities to vote for, and the "winner" got the collected
donation.
Due to this project, some
students with the teachers responsible for this donation had the opportunity to
travel to France and present their programme there. One of the students participated in the journey wrote about his experience of the trip:
"In the following text I would like to describe
the impressions and experience that I have made last year during the Comenius
Project in France.
Before we started the journey, Ms. Breuer gave
us a list where we had to choose a workshop. Because my dancing and acting
skills are slightly limited I knew that I should sign up for the Writing
workshop, which was the right decision in the end, because it was a lot of fun.
The first advantage of this workshop was that many girls chose it, but of
course the actual work we did was more important.
Very interesting was the fact that five
languages were involved in the project, which made the work we did sometimes
very tough but always exciting. We created short poems in Italian, Spanish,
French, Dutch and German. The teacher usually talked French and a student
translated into English, when I couldn't understand the whole meaning of the
task. Every student involved in the workshop was always ready to help me if
there was a problem and every time we had to deal with a task in a team, we
could handle it.
There was a constant exchange of words in the
five different languages, which gave me the opportunity to increase my
vocabulary. We started our work around 9 o' clock in the morning until noon
when we had a large break of 2 hours which was definitely necessary to gain
power for the next hours of creativity. The workshop ended around 6 o' clock
and I was really happy to go home to have some food and rest.
In 3 days of work we created many poems, short
stories and comparably stuffs from which we selected the best ones to present
them at the final celebration of the Comenius Project. I had to present the
first work which was just a sentence in different languages, but fortunately I
wasn't alone on the stage, in front of an audience containing numerous
teachers, students and parents, because the nice girl I worked with supported
me.
The nervousness vanished after a few sentences
and it started to make fun. The teacher told me just a few minutes before the
presentation started that I had to read a small text in Italian, which made me
a bit nervous, because I am not really familiar with the language but I did
well and got an encouraging applause. Last part of the presentation was a piece
created by the whole group, with a little bit of music in the background and
you could feel that both, presenters and audience, enjoyed it.
As conclusion I can say that this project was
successful, because it seemed like everybody had fun and we created something
great, overcoming linguistic barriers and forming a unity."
In my point of view, it was another fascinating and useful project of the school, as you can read it in Oliver's report.
